Panettone and Pandoro, two Italian Christmas treats!

What is London like at Christmas? Well, joyful Christmas markets pop up in the least expected of places, the spiced aroma of mulled wine fills the air and, if you’re lucky, you might get a little snow.

Bond Street bustles with shoppers, Christmas lights radiate across Regent’s Street and some of the finest restaurants in the world tempt in diners with delicious festive fayre.

Il Borro Tuscan Bistro is one of the best Italian restaurants in central London and at Christmas our special set menus, for lunch and dinner, bring a little bit of Italy to Mayfair. And this year on the menu are two quintessential Italian Christmas desserts…

Panettone is a tall and fluffy sweet bread that originated in Milan and is enjoyed by Italians the world over at Christmas and New Year. It contains sweet candied citrus fruits and raisins and is made during a long process. The proofing time alone takes many days, giving this delightful treat its distinctive texture.

Pandoro is also a popular sweet bread which literally means ‘golden bread’ in Italian. Dating back to the 18th Century, the recipe for this luxury was perfected in Verona and was traditionally reserved for Venetian nobility. Thankfully you no longer need to be an aristocrat to enjoy it!

We’d be delighted to welcome you to a perfectly authentic Italian Christmas at Il Borro Tuscan Bistro.
